Who Cares Grand Launch Event
The launch of Who Cares took place at Central Community Centre in Scunthorpe on Saturday 4th October.
Despite rather chilly weather, there was a steady stream of people attending the event. Children made craft items and watched the Earthbound Misfits performing circus skills. Adults enjoyed the singing of Kate Kinson and found out more about the abilities and activities of Who Cares.

Who Cares is a new organisation which is totally independent of any other. Members will research the needs of local people in health and adult social care services, investigate the current situation, and make reports of possible improvements which could be made. The authorities providing the services do not have to act on the reports, but they do have to explain why they will not be doing so. This means that they will have to take a good look at the suggestions, and it is hoped that they will be able to take many of the recommendations on board.

The event concluded with a Question Time where members of the public could ask questions about the health and adult social care services. Members of the authorities providing services were available to answer questions, along with Ian Cawsey MP.
Who Cares now needs more volunteers to enable the organisation to conduct its business. People to help with researching what the public wants, people to train to carry out inspections and people to help with the investigations and to write reports are all needed.
If you are interested in any part of the health service or adult social care services, please contact Kristian Reed, Co-ordinator of Who Cares (whocares@vanl.org.uk / 01724 845155) who will be able to tell you more about what is involved.
